This is some of my student work, so this is conceptual design that has not been sold or printed. The idea of this campaign is that byproducts of natural oil are just about everywhere – in our shoes, car tires, pavement, racing decals, race helmets, swimsuit fabric, surfboards, surfboard wax, paint, and of course plastic. It can be easy to overlook how important oil is because we use it for a lot of stuff; those things power our civilization forward and thus “move life.” The illustration style is posterized so the images are easily assimilated. The subject matter is (potentially) questionable to draw viewer interest in the connection between it and the oil company. The use of red within the illustration both ties into the logo and also gives a clue of at least one product made from oil.
